Verdde is a North Sámi word meaning “a mutually beneficial exchange” which, in this context, is the name of the collaboration in the field of Indigenous teacher education.

The Arctic Anthropology Research Team (Arctic Centre) from UArctic member University of Lapland is organizing the Anthropology Conference, 21-23 March 2023 in Rovaniemi and has issued a call for panels and papers.

The UArctic summer school Plastic in the marine Arctic – from sources to solutions has successfully been conducted, giving students first-hand experience and enabling them to contribute to an improved understanding of the problem of plastic pollution. The 2022 September Sea Ice Outlook (SIO) Report is now available online. The Sea Ice Outlook, managed by the Sea Ice Prediction Network–Phase 2 (SIPN2) Project Team, provides an open process for those interested in Arctic sea ice to share predictions and ideas.



Patti Bruns, the newly appointed Secretary-General of the Arctic Mayors Forum, and Tuula Rintala-Gardin, Director of International Relations for the City of Rovaniemi, met with the UArctic International Secretariat at the Univeristy of Lapland on Sept 20.

SIOI – UNA Italy and the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Italy, in collaboration with the High North Center for Business and Governance – Nord University (Bodø), launch the International Symposium “The Great Challenge of the Arctic: perspectives and changes for a peaceful cooperation”.
