The 15th International Summer School in Karelia (ISSK) will take place in Petrozavodsk, Russia on 14–19 May 2018. The main theme of the Summer School is "Discourses and political dimensions on the Arctic and the Barents Region – disciplinary theories and methods of Arctic studies".
The Calotte Academy 2018 ‘Discourses on the Arctic – (inter)disciplinary theories and methods of Arctic research’ will be organized in June 4-10, 2018 (tbc) in Rovaniemi, Salla and Inari, Finland; Kirkenes and Neiden, Norway; Apatity, Lovozero and Murmansk, Russia. From October 13 to October 19, 2017, the Uarctic Thematic Network on Arctic Extractive Industries held a masters/Phd course on the topic of Security, Governance and Geopolitics in relation to Arctic Extractive Industries.
CAFF and IASC, in partnership with APECS, are looking for two CAFF-IASC Fellows in this inaugural year. Fellows will identify a joint area of interest and expertise, participate in and contribute to CAFF’s work, and produce some culminating output. Application deadline: 15 Dec 2017 at 23:59 GMT.

The International Summer School (ISS) offers 14 Bachelor's courses focusing mainly on Norwegian language, culture and society, and 7 Master's courses on topics of broad international interest, including a course called "A Changing Arctic". The ISS is organized at the University of Oslo (Norway), June 23 - August 3, 2018.
The application period for international master's degree programmes at the University of Lapland starts on December 1, 2017. Four programmes with altogether 45 study places are available this application round in the fields of tourism, media education, and art and design. Apply by January 15!
The High North Dialogue conference (Bodø, Norway, April 18–19, 2018) gathers experts and stakeholders from a wide range of sectors and has a strong focus on business development and economic growth in the High North. The conference coincides with week-long Master and PhD courses.

Garfield Weston Foundation: the 2018 Weston Family Prize for Lifetime Achievement in Northern Research, and W. Garfield Weston Awards for Northern Research and Northern Archaeological Research.
