Adding to the existing services of the network, the UArctic Research Infrastructure Catalogue is a free online service connecting the UArctic members with the research community worldwide, and improving their visibility within and beyond UArctic.


University of Akureyri calls for applications for the Nansen professorship for 2016/17. Candidates should be interested in contributing a year to focus their research effort on political and social issues in the Arctic; with a special emphasis on issues shared by Norway and Iceland. UArctic and the Korea Maritime Institute (KMI) are pleased to announce an opportunity for students from UArctic member institutions to participate in the  2nd Korea Arctic Academy in Korea - a one-week study program in July 10-16, 2016 at KMI together with students from Korean universities.


The CIRRUS network of Nordic design universities, which includes many UArctic member institutions, will meet this week at the University of Lapland during the Arctic Design Week in Rovaniemi, Finland.

Fulbright Arctic Initiative (FAI) Program held Fulbright Arctic Symposium: Towards a Sustainable Arctic Future at Saalasti Hall, University of Oulu, Finland, on 11 February 2016. The symposium was hosted by Fulbright Center Finland in cooperation with the Thule Institute and University of Oulu.

The official outcome of the Third International Conference on Arctic Research Planning (ICARP III) has been published online. The report "Integrating Arctic Research – A Roadmap for the Future“ presents the key messages that emerged from the 2-year ICARP III process.

The deadline for pre-proposals is 19 April 2016.

UArctic Thematic Network on Arctic Sustainable Arts and Design (ASAD) has published a new peer-reviewed book "Relate North: Art, Heritage & Identity" edited by Timo Jokela and Glen Coutts, published by the Lapland University Press, 2015.


The submission of artworks and/or an abstract is now open for the symposium and exhibition RELATE NORTH 2016: Practising Place: Art & Design for Creative Communities. The deadline for submissions is 2 May 2016.
