Social transformations in northern Sweden

This course addresses societal transformations from social and cultural perspectives, and provides tools for understanding driving forces as well as resistance.

The northern parts of Sweden have undergone and are undergoing various social transformations such as depopulation, closures, mining boom and a so-called green transition.

This course addresses societal transformations from social and cultural perspectives, and provides tools for understanding driving forces as well as resistance.

It is based on examples of ongoing and/or experienced societal processes in Northern Sweden.

Using concepts such as justice, place and identity, it discusses how social processes are given meaning.
