The Norwegian state budget proposal for this coming fiscal year had one very positive piece of news. The Ministry of Education has proposed a 4 million NOK increase in the Norwegian funding of the north2north program, up from today’s 1.4 million NOK.

Ten Arctic members and one non-Arctic member were voted in by the Council of UArctic in their annual meeting in Stockholm, Sweden in September 2019. Six of the new member institutions are based in the United States, and the network also welcomed its first member from India. The current total of UArctic members is 212.

Project proposals are now solicited for the Fulbright Specialist Program. The Program offers an opportunity for Finnish institutions and organizations to host a leading U.S. academic or established professional to work on diverse, 2-6 week collaborative projects. UArctic Thematic Network on Arctic WASH (Water, Sewer and Health) organized a summer school on water and sanitation in cold climates. The course is now available to anyone interested in newly developed Online Course “Arctic Water Sanitation and Health (Arctic WASH)”.
