The deadline for submission of abstracts and applications for IASC travel grants for early career scientists for the SCAR/IASC IPY Open Science Conference has been extended to Friday, 15 February 2008. 

The 2008 Annual Winter Conference, held in Jokkmokk Sweden, is titled 'Developing the North – the Next 20 Years'. This year's Conference will focus on climate change, genuine sustainability in the North and how to avoid conflicts in the ongoing global race for economic growth,energy, water, security and living space.

The International Arctic Research Center (IARC) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) is hosting the summer school, "The Modeling of Arctic Climate," on 26 May - 7 June 2008.

The new deadline for submission of abstracts for the SCAR/IASC IPY Conference and for application for IASC travel grants for early career scientists to participate in the conference is February 15, 2008.
