Art, Culture & History Research Network in the Barents Region was established as a part of eLibrary&Culture without Borders -project coordinated by the University of Lapland, Faculty of Art and Design.

The Senior Arctic Officials (SAO) of the Arctic meeting in Tromso, Norway, on April 13-14, 2007. UArctic has also been invited to make a presentation to the SAOs on April 14 as a part of the formal agenda.

UArctic is searching for an individual to develop and administer the catalog of courses and studies offered by UArctic member institutions in the eight Arctic nations.

The Canadian fundraising committee has recently been informed that the current funding for Canadian participation in north2north has been extended for 10 months.

“Global Change Education in the Arctic”, written by John Moore (Arctic Centre, University of Lapland, Finland), Heli Kinnunen (Thule Institute, University of Oulu, Finland) and Rich Boone (University of Alaska Fairbanks, USA) has been published in Eos (Vol 88, No.14)

The Government of Saskatchewan announced “$200,000 for the B.A. in Northern Studies program at Northlands College in partnership with the University of the Arctic” at the end of March. 

Finnmark University College opens a new campus in Kirkenes this fall, and the Barents International School (BIS) will be an important part of this campus.

The Academic Cooperation Association (ACA), jointly with KATHO and VLHORA, will organize the colloquium "Internationalisation Today. Close neighbours and faraway friends" in Belgium on May 29, 2007. 

The Barents Education Network will hold a Workshop on Higher Education Promotion, International Marketing and Student Recruitment in Kemi, Finland, on May 8, 2007.

Bård A. Berg, chair of the UArctic Indigenous Peoples Issues Committee (IPIC), visited the Nisga'a First Nation in northern British Columbia, Canada, on March 9 and 10.

The University of Lapland, working together with the University of the Arctic, welcomes participation to the international multidisciplinary conference “Knowledge and Power in the Arctic”, at the University of Lapland, April 16-18, 2007.  

Leaders from 15 UArctic member institutions met at Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire, for the inaugural meeting of the UArctic Rectors’ Forum on March 14, 2007. An international conference on Nature and Tourism, following  the theme Tools for Sustainability, will take place from May 22 to 24 at the Arktikum in Rovaniemi, Finland.

The Institute of the North has published the first issue of the Telegraph newsletter for the year 2007.
