The main goal of the University is to become an acknowledged region-oriented university, centre of fundamental and applied research and higher education; to empower northerners with knowledge and find science-based solutions for the northern region problems.
At the beginning of 2015, the University received a certificate of state accreditation which confirms the status of the institution, high quality of education provided, teachers proficiency, students' knowledge.
