This program focuses on knowledge on Nordic democracy as well as on Russian government, how the governing systems are working and affecting High North politics and some important Barents issues, which include among others the challenges of cross-cultural communication and cooperation.
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of the courses, the candidate is supposed to have acquired knowledge on Nordic democracy as well as on Russian government, how the governing systems are working and affecting High North politics and some important Barents issues, the challenges of cross-cultural communication and cooperation as well as competence in doing research on a specific northern topic as an option. This knowledge and insight will improve the candidate's ability and general competence on cross-border projects and cooperation in the High North.
Achieved competence and relevance
The AE program is a part of Bachelor of Northern Studies. While the core courses gives a multidisciplinary background to meet High North challenges, the AE program gives the students a deeper understanding of the Barents region, possibilities and challenges as to cross-border cooperation and development. This is a most relevant competence for graduates who want to seek jobs in this field of work.
