Arctic Nature Guide

Could you see yourself as an adventure guide in the Arctic's wild nature? With the one-year Arctic Nature Guide-education in Spitsbergen, we guarantee you a year full of adventures. Followed by a working life in the outdoors, where you meet nature every day, in every way.

Safe Guiding in the Arctic: The course is mainly practically oriented, but also includes a theoretical approach. The course includes trips of longer and shorter duration in the varied Arctic environment throughout the year. The course aims to gradually develop the candidate's expertise in trekking and camping in the Arctic.

Value-Based Guiding and Teaching Arctic Nature: The course is taught throughout the whole of the academic year. The course has a theoretical approach and a practical dimension that includes field trips, practical work and leadership tasks. Part of the instruction on this course will be carried out at UiT The Arctic University of Norway, in Alta at the end of first semester. The course is divided into 3 equal themes:

  • Field Leadership and Hostmanship.
  • Nature and Culture in the Arctic.
  • Teaching Nature and Value-Based Guiding.
