Russian Studies Programme

The Russian Studies autumn semester program was developed by the twin universities UiT (Norway) and NArFU (Russia) with the hopes to build knowledge of Russia and stimulate interdisciplinary thinking. Our mission is to create opportunities for students to get progress in studying Russia while staying in Russia so that in their later academic careers the students could be in a position to work on a self-sufficient basis in the learning Russian subjects.

Initially created for the exchange students from Nordic countries, now the program attracts students from all over the world and enables international students to get knowledge about Russian history, culture, language and society by offering them a semester program at the Russian university.

The Russian Studies program consists of 3 modules:

1) Soviet and Contemporary Russian History (XXth century) - 5 ECTS
2) Culture of the Russian North - 5 ECTS
3) Contemporary Russian Politics - 6 ECTS

The program is designed for international degree and exchange students. Upon completion of studies students receive a Transcript of Records. There is no fee to participate in this program for exchange students from partner institutions. Scholarships are available through Barents Plus and Erasmus Mundus. Please note that the Russian Studies Program does not award a degree.
