UArctic Assembly 2023 - Day 1: Key Decisions
The UArctic Assembly 2023 is being held May 22-26 in Québec City, Canada. The meeting is hosted by Université Laval. The meeting brings together over 100 participants from across UArctic’s membership.
During the first day of the meeting, UArctic welcomed 17 new members to the network, bringing UArctic's total membership to 187:

- Global Health, McMaster University, Canada
- Arctic Initiative, Belfer Center, Harvard Kennedy School, United States

- Jilin University, China
- Rashtriya Raksha University, India
- University of Dundee, United Kingdom
- University of Glasgow, United Kingdom
- University of Tasmania, Australia
- Arctic Basecamp Foundation, Netherlands
- Halpin Research Centre, Ireland
- Oxford University Polar Forum, United Kingdom
The UArctic Assembly elected one new Board member and one student representative. The following elections were made:
- Dr. Lesley Brown of Yukon University as member of the Board for a three-year term (2023-2026)
- Viljo Vuorimäki of University of Lapland as Student Representative on the Board for a fixed three-year term (2023-2026)
UArctic congratulates the newly elected Board members and is pleased about the added competence and experience that they bring to our Board.
