The Rievdan project conference is organized by Sámi University of Applied Sciences, International Centre for Reindeer Husbandry and Research Council of Norway. Organizers want to create a real dialogue with reindeer herders about future reindeer husbandry and reconcile different knowledge systems to maintain the sustainable Sámi reindeer husbandry.

Different knowledge systems - one reindeer husbandry

The conference sums up the RIEVDAN project about traditional knowledge of reindeer husbandry in a changing world. The conference is open to all, but a key target audience are reindeer herders. The aim is to engage the participants through an interactive and varied program. The conference provides a series of short scientific presentations followed by feedback from and discussions with the audience, as well as traditional food and cultural events.
