The “AGE-Arctic” project is the project supported by the Nordic Council of Ministers (October, 2020 – August, 2023). It is coordinated by the University of Lapland. The purpose of the AGE-Arctic project is to explore ageing, gender, and ethnicity through the lens of equality and social justice.

Prof. Päivi Naskali who is the Lead of this project and Lead of the Thematic Network “Ageing and Gender in the Arctic” opened the workshop: “It is nice to meet you face to face in this snowy Lappish surrounding to have inspiring discussions”.

The project has just hosted its first hybrid-format international workshop in Loma-Vietonen, Finnish Lapland, on November 25-26, 2021. 10 participants from Finland, Canada, and Iceland spent 2 days at the venue and the rest of the group joined virtually.

The project meeting included 8 presentations and detailed group discussion of the proposed book chapters of forthcoming book which has been accepted by the Routledge.  Participants also were agreeing on the next important milestones: the deadline for the final manuscript, the date for the 2nd workshop, and other relevant issues concerning the project.
