The purpose of the Summer School program is to attract students to study languages and culture of the Indigenous peoples of the North. During the Summer School, students will gain knowledge in preserving, reviving and developing indigenous languages of the Arctic. Students will study culture of Indigir Evens in Kabergena community located in the Yakutian Arctic.
The two-week field trip includes lectures and workshops on applied culture, traditional fishing, production of lasso & sledge and an intensive Even language course.
Lectures will be conducted by staff of the Northern Philology department at North-Eastern Federal University while workshops will be conducted by experienced masters in fishery, food culture, arts and crafts.
The participation fee is 1,300 EUR and includes air transportation, water transportation, accommodation and meals. A discount for students from Partner Institutions will be provided if there is a group of 10 students or more.
This Summer School is available through north2north UArctic Mobility Program.
North-Eastern Federal University provides visa invitation for confirmed participants.
