New book on Arctic Design

University of Lapland
"Arctic Design. Opening the Discussion" is the first publication to open the debate on what is 'Arctic design.' Interest in the Arctic region has grown strongly, but discussions have focussed on economic, political and cultural issues. The book brings the perspective of design into these discussions: how design can support the development of the Arctic region? (Source: ULapland)

The publication results from the activities of the UArctic Thematic on Arctic Sustainable Art and Design (ASAD). Authors include ULapland Rector Mauri Ylä-Kotola, Dean Timo Jokela, and Professor Satu Miettinen.

"Service design can develop radical innovations, which can be used to create well-being in the Arctic," says University of Lapland, Faculty of Arts, Professor Satu Miettinen.

The book is published by the University of Lapland, Faculty of Art and is edited by Päivi Tahkokallio.

The book is available online (PDF)
