Symposium on Cod Aquaculture

West Fjords
The Marine Research Institute of Iceland will host a symposium on Cod Aquaculture at the University Centre of the Westfjords on Wednesday August 31. The symposium will focus on two subjects, Integrated Coastal Zone Management relating to Aquaculture and Knowledge Dissemination and Authorization for Aquaculture. The symposium is organized in cooperation with the UArctic Thematic Network on Marine and Coastal Issues.
One of the topics of the symposium is knowledge dissemination from our CMM masters program. This photo shows an artificial reef that is deployed under the cod pens to filter bio excess of the feeding remains that fall to the bottom of the sea. This project is a part of a research done by Dafna Israel, a CMM master’s student.

The symposium will be in Icelandic. All further information and schedule can be found on the Icelandic page.
