IPY Launch in Canada

The Canadian IPY launch took place in Ottawa on March 1, 2007.
The Honourable Jim Prentice, Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development and Federal Interlocutor for Métis and Non-Status Indians, and the Honourable John Baird, Minister of the Environment, officially launched IPY in Canada and confirmed $150 million in federal funding for an ambitious program by Canada’s New Government for the two-year program.
 
The launch, which tooke place at the Canadian Museum of Civilization,  was available via live webcast at http://www.ipy-api.gc.ca at 11.15 am local time on March 1.
