24 year-old Dominique Naud, from Quebec City, will be heading to Rovaniemi Finland to work at the Secretariat as a communications and projects assistant. Naud has a degree in journalism from Concordia University (Montreal Quebec), and a post graduate diploma in public relations from the University of Laval (Laval Quebec).

Naud says she is hoping to get a lot out of her internship experience.

"I want to understand more how the academic environment works," she says.

Naud spent this past year as an intern for the public affairs department for the Canadian High Commission in Canberra Australia. After her internship, she travelled all over Australia and New Zealand. She says her experience made her realize she wants to travel more and have a future career in public relations.

"I just want to get more experience in the area because I know that's where I want to be," says Naud who is fluent in English and French.

Naud says she is excited to learn more about the Circumpolar North and see as much of Finland as she can. She will begin her six month internship on October 1.

Her internship is organized by the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) and is sponspored by the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs' (DFAIT) Young Professionals International Program. The program helps young Canadians get their first overseas work experience.
