GoNorth! project meets in Roskilde

The European Union Erasmus Mundus-funded GoNorth! project met for a planning meeting at Roskilde University in Roskilde, Denmark, on 15-17 November 2006. The meeting was hosted by Professor Rasmus Ole Rasmussen and chaired by Astrid Revhaug, the project leader for the GoNorth! project as well as the Programme Chair for UArctic’s GoNorth! Programme.

During the meeting, the participants also received a warm welcome from the Rector of Roskilde University Poul Holm, who gave an introduction to the history and some insights into the current developments of the institution.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the visit of UArctic Board members Erling Olsen and Rune Ryden, who voiced strong support from the Scandinavian Seminar Group to UArctic’s online catalogue development. Erling Olsen is the founding rector of Roskilde University.

The GoNorth! program acts as a "window" for UArctic member institutions to promote the unique educational opportunities available in the Arctic, and to interest students in learning about the North, from the North, and in the North.
