In Memoriam

The University of the Arctic is sad to announce the loss of UArctic Council Member Alexey Cherenkov, Head of International Relations at the Murmansk Humanities Institute.
Mr Cherenkov joined the UArctic Council in April 2003 and since then became active in many UArctic programs, often participating in the development stages.  He was extremely active in implementing the Undergraduate Progam, often in partnership with Bodø  University College,  and was also very actively involved in the north2north and the GoNorth! mobility programs.
 
Mr Cherenkov will be remembered by his UArctic colleagues as a hard-working, kind-hearted man who always had a vision for the future and will be missed by the numerous friends he made during his travels across the Circumpolar North.
 
UArctic wishes to express its most sincere condolences to Mr Cherenkov's family and to his colleagues at the Murmansk Humanities Institute.
