My exchange studies in Bodø and Tromsø made me want to study abroad more. So I applied for Finnmark University College (nowadays UiT The Arctic University of Norway) to study tourism. Now I am writing my doctoral thesis on Images that Norwegians have of Russians. Living in Alta helps me in writing process, being able to interact with Norwegian people.

Norwegian educational system is different from Russian one. And Finnmark University College is different from other Northern Norwegian institutions I’ve studied in. Finnmark University is a small institution, so it is easier to participate in the social life: I am a member of a local Erasmus organization and a student club. Also Arctic issues are very important for me, Arctic is my home. Especially I’m interested in communication and development in the Arctic.

So my exchange studies helped me a lot to understand what I am going to do in future and contributed to my decision to apply to the university in Norway. In future I would like to work in the field of cultural tourism, for example in a museum or in a national park. Hopefully my work would be related to Norway and Russia. Also I am considering teaching or working in projects that connect both countries.
