Universities, companies, research institutions and organizations have one month left to submit proposals for Breakout Sessions at the Fourth Arctic Circle Assembly to be held October 7 – 9, 2016 in Reykjavík, Iceland. Deadline for submissions: May 15, 2016.

Organizers of the Arctic Science Summit Week 2017 in Prague (Czech Republic) on 31 March – 7 April 2017 are now accepting session proposals for the ASSW 2017 Science Symposium, entitled "A Dynamic Arctic in Global Change". Deadline: June 30, 2016.



The Canada Council for the Arts invites applications under its new media residencies programme. This enables organisations to host an artist or a group of up to three artists working on projects related to new media. The deadline is 1 October 2016.

The Nordic Council of Ministers’ (NCM) Terrestrial Ecosystem Group invites applications for its Call for projects. The main objective is to curb negative trends in biodiversity, maintain robust ecosystems and continue to deliver the ecosystem services necessary for welfare and economic growth. The deadline is 15 June 2016.

The Directorate-General for the Environment will shortly be inviting applications for its traditional projects on climate change adaptation, under the LIFE programme. The call is expected to open during the second half of May with an expected closing date on 7 September 2016.


 The Korea Maritime Institute (KMI), located in Busan, Republic of Korea, launched its 1st Korea Arctic Academy (KAA) with 30 international and Korean students in 2015, and is currently getting ready to host the Academy again this year.

Carolyn Kozak, a master's student in Arctic and Northern studies at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, participated in the Model Arctic Council held during the Arctic Science Summit Week in March 2016. She was also recently appointed as one of the six new UArctic Student Ambassadors.

Linguists of Tomsk State University (Russia) in collaboration with colleagues from Finland (University of Turku) and Norway (Norwegian University of Sciences and Technology) launched a project aimed at establishing academic and scientific cooperation in the field of experimental linguistics.

NordForsk, Nordic Innovation and Nordic Energy Research joined forces and launched a call for proposals on the Nordic Green Growth Research and Innovation Programme. The deadline for this call is 16 August 2016.



The project "Bridging the cooperation gap – Nordic-Russian Network for International Relations in Higher Education" was financially supported by the SIU program of Nordic-Russian cooperation in December 2015.
